Michael Hulak was a well-respected fixture at the Norfolk Superior Court where he served as an Assistant Clerk for over thirty years before recently retiring. In this important role, Michael was recognized for his inherent ability to establish relationships with litigants and attorneys in order to resolve cases before a trial became necessary. He acquired significant knowledge about civil and criminal matters, and became a certified mediator.
Michael estimates he has conducted over 1,000 mediation sessions resulting in settlements ranging from $10,000.00 to over seven figures in claims involving personal injury, contracts, insurance-related matters, commercial disputes, family-owned businesses, municipalities, and more.
Attorneys frequently sought out Michael’s expertise in evaluating the financial value of their cases and for assistance when reaching settlement terms was challenging. Michael also acted as a point of contact for the Massachusetts Trial Court, working with members of the press and Court TV during high-profile trials. He also enjoyed mentoring law students. In 2009, he was recognized for his outstanding work by the Bar Association of Norfolk County, receiving the Amicus Curiae award.
Originally from South Boston, Michael attended Holy Cross Cathedral High School and Massasoit Community College. He later relocated to the South Shore, where he served on the Finance Committee and the Planning Board for the town of Hanson.
