MBA Family Law Conference
Medfield divorce lawyer and mediator Stephen McDonough attended the Massachusetts Bar Association’s 24th Annual Family Law Conference October 17-18, 2014.
The conference was held at the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod. Topics discussed included advanced issues such as:
- MA Child Support
- Massachusetts Alimony, including a review of recent appellate alimony cases
- Covering college expenses, and the interaction between child support and college costs
- Cases involving the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF)
- Parenting and custody matters when a parent or parents have problems with drugs or alcohol
Many of the presenters at the conference are Probate and Family Court judges from across Massachusetts. Some of the presentations included hypothetical situations followed by a panel of judges sharing their thoughts on the different issues presented.
Judge Angela Ordonez, former First Justice of the Norfolk County Probate and Family Court, and now the Chief Justice for all of the commonwealth’s probate and family courts, delivered her State of the Court address to the attendees on Saturday morning.
