Certified Divorce Mediator
Stephen McDonough Attains Certified Divorce Mediator Status through the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation
Press Release: March 20, 2015 | Medfield, MA
Stephen McDonough, founder of Next Phase Legal LLC, recently achieved status as a Certified Divorce Mediator through the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation, the premier family facilitative mediation organization in Massachusetts, and the only organization offering a robust certification process. Only about 11% of mediators achieve this certification.
To qualify as a MCFM Certified Mediator, an applicant must have a minimum of 100 hours of mediation experience, and complete a minimum of 90 hours of related training in subjects such as financial issues related to divorce, family dynamics, parenting, child development, divorce law, psychological dynamics, and other subjects. Applicants are then reviewed by a peer review committee before final acceptance.
Re-certification occurs every two years, and an additional 20 hours of training is required during that time period. Only divorce mediators with this certification may receive referrals made to MCFM through the MA Probate and Family Courts.
